Illustrative work puts a drawing with a story in it onto skin, the way an illustration sits in a book. There is no fixed template, so it starts with a conversation about what you want it to hold.
What defines it

It carries a story : it is not only a shape but a scene or an account, which is why the same subject comes out differently for each person.

Free in treatment : it can be taken thin in fine line, or given the shading of black and grey.

It can be composed : several elements can be arranged in one image, and a frame makes that easier to hold together.

Adaptable : the same subject can be redrawn to fit the size and shape of the body part it will live on. Easy to scale : drop elements and it goes small, add them and it goes large.
